After graduation from the University of Alabama, Dr. Davis returned to his Limestone County roots to teach at West Limestone School for 10 years. While there he taught elementary music grades K-5 and band classes grades 6-12. He accepted a position as band director at Cedar Ridge Middle School in Decatur in 1999. After six years as band director at Cedar Ridge, Dr. Davis became the assistant principal there. During this time, he also became the inaugural Director of Music for the Decatur Youth Symphony and served as conductor for eight years. During his tenure with the symphony, Dr. Davis facilitated the creation of seven different performing groups associated with the symphony, including a percussion ensemble for at-risk elementary students in the Decatur area. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Youth Symphony. Dr. Davis completed Master of Arts in Education and Education Specialist degrees at the University of North Alabama. In 2011, he completed a Doctor of Education degree at the University of Alabama. Dr. Davis has served as music minister or interim music minister for several congregations in Morgan and Lawrence counties. He is married to Shannon and they have two sons, Chris and Josh.
