The Urban Acre Community Garden started in May of 2016 with eager voluteers of all ages.
First UMC folks dedicated the produce of the garden to feed the hungry in Decatur.
Volunteers kept expanding the garden. We were getting ready to plant pumpkins next to the squash hill.
In addition to being a gardener with us, our pastor serves on the local Farmers Market Board.
Look what the fall of 2016 produced. Over 70 lbs. of greens that day. Total for the year was amost 1500 lbs.
April of 2017. The garden is plowed. We have gin trash and leaf mold to spread and plants to plant.
Celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism at Decatur First is always special for families and the whole church.
2016 was the 3rd year in a row Decatur First held Discovery weekend at the end of the summer.
Talk about an energetic Vacation Bible School! We mined the scriptures for great truths in great ways in June 2016.
We have an amazing church that has been around since 1834. The present sanctuary was built in 1898.
We acquired and dedicated our historic marker in 2016. A special place with special people in every generation!
