Ignite Student Ministries

…. a place where God sets young people's hearts on fire and invites them to go out and light the hearts of others. 


Our student ministry meets the youth of Decatur where they are, inviting them to experience the love and power of God wherever and whenever we meet. From Sunday night programming to retreats, outings, and service projects, our ministry intentionally instills in our youth that they are called, ready, and equipped to make a difference for the Kingdom of God, no matter their age or where they come from. We believe that our students are just as much the present church as they are the future church, and so we set out to encourage them in the love and presence of Jesus Christ and who He’s empowered them to be right now. 


“So now you are no longer strangers and wanderers. Rather, you are fellow citizens with God’s people, and you belong to God’s household. As God’s household, you are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. The whole building is joined together in him, and it grows up into a temple that is dedicated to the Lord.”

  • Sunday Nights

    WHO:  6th - 12th Graders


    WHEN:  Sunday nights, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM


    WHERE:  At Decatur FUMC, in the Youth Space on the 3rd Floor


    WHAT: Students gather together on Sunday nights for fun, fellowship, and faith formation. We typically begin our nights with fellowship time in the cafe and game area. Students will then hear a lesson from our Youth Minister and participate in discussions geared towards applying the message to their own personal experiences. Sunday Youth Group is a fun time for students to connect with one another, be challenged and encouraged, and discover God’s movement in their own life. Throughout the year, we also have hangout time off church property, go on retreats, and participate in service projects together, so be sure to check out our calendar below to stay updated on all upcoming activities and events! 

  • wednesday nights

    WHO: 6th - 12th graders


    WHEN: Wednesday nights after First Fellowship

    5:15 - 6:00PM // First Fellowship Dinner

    6:00 - 7:00 PM // Bible Study


    WHERE: 3rd Floor Youth Space


    WHAT: a time designated for students to dive into the Word by means of guided Bible Study and faithful fellowship!
